Where are we, and how can you get to us?
If you're not coming by bike, boat, or car, then the best way to get to Český Krumlov from Prague, Plzeň, Brno, or České Budějovice is to take a train or bus. If you're coming by car, we have our own parking lot. Bicyclists can hide their bikes in our storage, canoers can park their boat in our garden, cowboys can put their horses up in our stables... you get the idea.
How to walk (yes, walk) from the Český Krumlov bus station to the hostel (15 minute walk, great view)
From the bus station, head back and downhill a few steps towards the MOL petrol station (it's also where taxi drivers take their coffee break, and a taxi ride should cost you CZK 50 if he's in a good mood), then take the sidewalk next to the Mol straight towards the castle tower. Cross the road, turn left onto the sidewalk, and keep walking. You'll have the old town and castle across the river to your right. Stay on this road (Objížďková), go through two stoplights, and you'll come to a bridge crossing the Vltava River. Before the bridge, cross the road again to the left (direction Spolí), and you're on the street named Pod Svatým Duchem - 50 man-size paces, and there we are on the left. The trek takes about 15 minutes and passes by some of the best panoramic views of the castle and old town that you could wish for.
If you get out at the bus station "Špičák" where all the intercity buses stop, then go up onto the overpass and continue towards the old town according to the directions from the train station (see below). You'll link into this route at Budějovice Gate. This route leads you through the old town and takes about 20 minutes by foot.
How to get to us from the Český Krumlov train station (35 minutes on foot, through the old town and across 4 bridges).
You can also ask for directions at the information center in the train station building. They can call you a taxi or give you a handy map. Taxis are usually waiting right in front of the station, and the ride to Havana Hostel should cost you CZK 150.
You can also take the local bus - the bus stop is across the street from the train station. The bus stop you want is called "Tavírna" or Svatý Duch", and both stops are just a few meters from the hostel. The driver will sell you a ticket for CZK 20.
If you feel like walking, then you're in for an interesting ca. 40-minute hilly stroll through the entire old town, crossing 4 bridges. After leaving the station, bear right, then left and headlong downhill along the main road. Stay on the left side, and when the road turns sharp right at the panoramic wooden gazebo, you take the steep and winding walkway straight down. You'll to the "Luna" cinema, then cross the overpass bridge to go under the old Budějovice Gate, then stay on Latrán Street till you reach the castle's Red Gate, on the right. Just past the gate is the Castle Information Center, where you can get a map and other information. Then return to your path, follow Latrán across the wooden bridge (Lazebnický) to the town square (Svornosti). Cross the bottom of the square and exit it right onto Kájovská Street, where you'll follow its curve to the left, then right, then across Beneš Bridge. See the steep narrow steps straight ahead? A few leaps and bounds up the stairs will take you to Plešivecké náměstí (square) at the top. Cross out of the square with the old stone basin on your right, and stroll down elegant Plešivecká Street till you see the bridge crossing the river at the bottom. Cross the busy road just before the bridge and continue upstream with the river on your right, and you'll see our hostel after about 50 meters.
